Join us in transforming our neighborhood hub!
Location: 1400 Bethel St NE (corner of San Francisco and Bethel next to SF Bakery)
Date & Time: Saturday, November 18, 10am-2pm
Help transform the site of the old garage at San Francisco Avenue and Bethel Street into a welcoming place for neighbors to gather and connect. Come for as long as you’d like. We need all the help we can get!
With the generous support from a City of Olympia neighborhood matching grant and with the help of many other partners and volunteers, we’ve already made a lot of progress. And now comes the most fun part!
At this work party we will:
- Place 12 six-foot planters around the perimeter of the mulched area on the east side of the property.
- Fill the planters with 12 yards of garden soil.
- Finally, we will plant these planters with 70 different plants from a local nursery.
What’s coming next? Sometime soon after the work party, we plan to add 5 picnic tables and the property owners are almost ready to open a coffee stand in the small red shed that you may have already noticed at the corner. And their future plans include adding some food trucks to the site.
We hope you can make it! We will need a lot of volunteers to move all that soil and to plant so many plants before the colder weather sets in!
What to bring: gloves, sturdy shoes, and dress for the weather. This is a rain-or-shine event.
